The first successful surgical intervention for treatment of Hirschsprung's disease (HH) was performed by Swenson and Bill in 1948. In the following years, Duhamel, Martin, State, Rehbein, Soave, Boley described the techniques and modifications mentioned in their name.
Early diagnosis of Hirschsprug disease, improvement of pediatric anesthesia and postoperative care conditions, and attempts to make surgical interventions less invasive have changed the treatment principles of HH.
Transanal endorectal pull-through for Rectosigmoid Hirschsprung’s disease defined by De la Torre-Mondragon L, Ortega-Salgado JA in 1998 which is performed by the transanal pathway without opening the Soave-Boley operation. Most of the patients in the neonatal period with a single-session technique without laparotomy surgery can be considered as the most important change in the treatment of HH. Hirschsprung hastalığı (HH) tedavisine yönelik ilk başarılı cerrahi girişim 1948 yılında Swenson ve Bill tarafından yapılmıştır. Takip eden yıllarda Duhamel, Martin, State, Rehbein, Soave, Boley kendi adlarıyla anılan teknikler ve modifikasyonlar tanımlamışlardır.
Hirschsprug hastalığı tanısının daha erken konulmaya başlanması, anestezi ve postoperatif bakım şartlarının iyileşmesi, cerrahi girişimlerin giderek daha az invaziv yapılmaya çalışılması HH’nın tedavi prensiplerini değiştirmiştir.
Rektosigmoid HH için 1998 yılında De la Torre Mondragon ve J.A. Ortega Salgado tarafından tanımlanan transanal endorektal pull-through, Soave-Boley ameliyatının batın açılmadan transanal yoldan yapılmasıdır. Bu yöntemle hastaların çoğunun yenidoğan döneminde laparotomisiz, tek seanslı teknikle ameliyat edilmesi HH’nin tedavisinde son yıllardaki en önemli değişikliktir.
